SAMUEL VALDÉS DÍAZ
Meet @samuelvaldes, owner of the first BirdFriendly Cocoa plantation of Panama. Mr. Valdés is a person of many interests. He is a biologist and publishes articles and books on topics such as ichthyology, conservation, and ecological connectivity.
Has served as president of Panama's network of private natural reserves, breeds butterflies for export, and teach rural communities how to reproduce butterflies as a sustainable way to generate income for their families.
Five years ago, he established a cacao plantation that is in the process of organic certification and has met the requirements to be declared BirdFriendly, working hand in hand with local communities.
